My Approach to Guiding Potential Toward Progress

A Framework for Mentorship

As a former Boy Scout, one of my goals in life is to leave places better than I found them. This is my chance to make sure you can be prepared to do the same — but with people. Over the years, I’ve built more and more structure around making a repeatable approach to this question. It’s an operating system for building habits, growing skills, and, finally, putting the present and future into one macro view.

This is the operating system for how to mentor that I wish I had known when I started leading startup teams, but I can share and evolve it now to influence people on a faster path than the one I traveled. I’ve used it for years to be a mentor in my community and across the country. Hopefully, you’re reading this to prepare to be a mentor yourself one day or perhaps a mentee about to embark on a journey following my plans for your world domination — for the betterment of all.

What is a Mentor?

My definition of a mentor is someone who takes a genuine and selfless interest in your success. They could be a colleague at work, a trusted family…
